Obituary of Mildred Elizabeth Eydt

Betsy Eydt died of old age on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in her ninety-fifth year, in Belleville, Ontario.

Betsy was predeceased by her husband and best friend, Ronald Eydt. Betsy and Ron were friends from early childhood, in Hamilton, Ontario. In the beginning, during Grade 2, Betsy’s sister, Mary, invited Ron home from school, thus starting a decades-long friendship between the Dickson and Eydt families.

Betsy had two sisters, Claire Machan, deceased, (Glen) and Mary Campbell (Ron), and two sisters-in-law, Penny Wray, deceased, (Blair) and Carol Eydt (Robert).

Graduating from Hamilton Civic Hospital, Betsy spent a fulfilling nursing career at St. Mary’s General Hospital, in Kitchener, Ontario, until her retirement. She was a compassionate nurse, supportive colleague and a wise leader.

Betsy volunteered at the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony and the Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery. She was a member and past president of the Probus Club of Kitchener Waterloo.

Betsy received a B.A. from the University of Waterloo.

We will remember Betsy for her intelligence and curiosity, her deep love for all members of the families, and that she was very, very funny.

On Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., a funeral service will be held at All Saints’ Anglican Church, 400 Northfield Drive W., Waterloo, Ontario. A reception at the church will follow.

In honour of Betsy’s legacy, we invite you to make a donation to the Ron Eydt Travel Award at the University of Waterloo in her name. Cheques can be payable to the University of Waterloo – Ron Eydt Travel Award in memory of Betsy Eydt.
