I had the pleasure of working with Gord at Miller Thomson as a summer student (2006-2007) and an articling student (2008-2009). He was one of the highlights of my time there, someone I admired and wanted to learn from. Years later, he met my father at a friend’s and met my husband at a charity golf tournament. Both times he reminisced how I was the student who didn’t know motorcycles don’t have seatbelts. As embarrassing as it is that he shared that story, I was so pleased he remembered me.
I hope that your memories of Gord will comfort you during this time.

My condolences to Anna, Steve, Debbie, and the entire sphere of Gord's friends and family. I went to high school with Gord and his friends at Grantham HS in St. Catharines for one year in 1971-72. My stay at Grantham went a lot easier due to Gord. He was such a character and a very good guy. He always seemed have a smile and a laugh to share. I have added a graduation photo from 1972. Gord is in the lower right with the big smile. My thoughts will be with the family long after the upcoming services have concluded.

I want to share my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved Gord. He truly was a gem of a person, always with a twinkle in his eye. I count myself incredibly lucky to have had Gord as a mentor and colleague. He was the kind of lawyer we all aspire to be — principled, perceptive, and always prepared — with an unwavering commitment to both his clients and his colleagues. One of my fondest memories goes back to the days of dictation. Gord, ever the consummate professional, once recorded that “liability is an issue in this matter,” only to later discover it had transcribed as “my ability is in issue in this matter.” (Thank goodness he reviewed the draft before signing then mailing!) His deadpan delivery of that story — and the smirk and wink that followed — still makes me smile. It was classic Gord: humble, sharp-witted, and unflappable. As a managing partner, he led with fairness and genuine respect for the people around him. He leaves behind not only a remarkable legal legacy, but also generations of lawyers who were better for having known him. I know I am. Darlis and I send our deep condolences to Debbie, Emily, Laura and their families.

To the Robson Family,
I was so shocked to hear of Gord's passing. Although I only worked with Gord for a short time decades ago when I articled with Sims Clement Eastman, he had a significant impacted on my development as a lawyer. He led by example and guided me (and the other articling students) through the nuances of professionalism, advocacy, the law and the "practice" of law. He taught us not only what to focus on in a case, but also to focus on what is important in life. Gord was certainly the type of lawyer that we aspire to be. He will be missed as a colleague and mentor.

I profoundly saddened by Gord's passing. Gord was one of the first lawyers I met when I started practice in 1983. We had many files together as opposing counsel. It was a testament to his integrity and professionalism that we could a fierce opponent, and effective advocate, a mentor to a young lawyer and a friend. I have so many fun memories of my childhood with my big brother Gord. His love of trivia started at the dinner table where our brother Steve and I, and our parents would ask each other general knowledge questions. We loved to make up songs and read Oor Wullie and The Broons comic books from Scotland. Along with Debbie, Steve, Frances, Robin, Sandy and I, we'd happily volunteer to do the dishes after a party at our parents house, so we could put on 60's music and sing and dance around the kitchen "Get the picture? Yes we see". I was overjoyed when Debbie replaced Star Trek in his life, which meant I got the TV and I Love Lucy all to myself. I loved going to his high school football games. I loved picking him up at the bus when he came home from university. When both of the boys were home for weekends, we'd sit up in the rec room, long after our parents went to bed and recant funny stories of our childhood, and laugh and smoke Dumauriers and drink our dads Molson Ex. I was so fortunate to have Gord as a brother and friend. We never fought, aside from a few minor annoyances like getting chip crumbs in his bottle of pop, but I was just a little kid and it was an accident. 'k, last one - hands on the buzzers - who won the Greater Greensboro Open three times?

Violet and I offer our heart-felt condolences to the Robson family with the passing of Gord. Gord was a very good friend, golf partner and lunch colleague. I enjoyed his keen insight into current affairs and politics, and his relaxed attitude to most issues. When we golfed we had two rules: ‘hit till you’re happy’ and ‘no-one keeps score’. Gord was community spirited, serving for many years on the Board of the KW Skating Club and advisory committees of Wilfrid Laurier University. Always a genuine pleasure to be with.
