Obituary of John Clifton "Clif" Young

It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Clif Young on Friday, September 19, 2025, cherished husband of Elaine Young, his partner in life for over 60 years. Clif will also be deeply missed by his siblings Malcolm, Bob, and Pat.

Born on April 19, 1939, in Stratford, Ontario, Clif lived a full and vibrant life. He was a well-loved university professor, teaching statistics at the University of Waterloo for many years, where he inspired and mentored countless students. Clif was an avid traveller and passionate bird watcher who found great joy in nature and music.

Clif was deeply proud of his daughters and the lives they built. He is survived by Michele, Catherine, and Suzanne. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren T.J., Sara, Hailey, Lucas, and Trey, as well as his great-grandchildren Sophie and William.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather and share memories of Clif’s love of life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the House of Friendship, The Working Centre, or a charity of your choice, in honour of Clif’s legacy of compassion and community spirit, and may be arranged through the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or at www.erbgood.com.

Clif’s love for life and family shaped all of us, and we will carry that spirit with us always.
