Obituary of Otto Buettel

Passed away at Malaspina Long Term Care in Nanaimo, BC, on November 12, 2025, aged 88 years. 

Otto will be dearly missed by his sons, Walter (Rose) of Wroxeter, ON and Dave (Brenda) of Nanaimo, BC.  Opa will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Marisa (Tahj) and Michael, and Jake (Maia) and Nevada, and great-grandson Rowan. Otto also leaves his dear sister, Anne Foster of Perth, Australia and brother, Pete (Jean) Buettel of Gloucester, Australia. He will be missed by relatives and friends in Australia, Germany and US. Otto was predeceased by his wife Elisabeth (Liz in 2014), and his parents Otto Sr and Elfriede Buettel. 

Otto was born in Germany and immigrated to Kitchener with his parents and siblings in 1955. He married Liz in 1962. For many years, they enjoyed summers at their cottage in Point Clark. Otto retired from J.M.Schneider Ltd and in 2018 moved to Nanaimo to live near Dave and his family. 

A private graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Breslau.
