Obituary of Catherine Elizabeth Allen
Our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Catherine Elizabeth (nee Herbst) Allen, went to be with her Saviour on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in her 98th year. She was born on December 5, 1927, and she was baptized by her father into the Christian faith on December 25th of that same year. Catherine is survived by her children George Allen (friend Liz Nafziger), Jane Ryan (Murray Black) and Mike Allen (Cathleen). She is loved and missed by her grandchildren, Sarah Cherrey, Jeremy Allen (Daniella), Julie Ryan (Josh Richardson), Tracey Allen (Chris Morin), Jordan Ryan (Rosie), Josh Allen (Heather), and Courtney Mundie (Tom). Cherished by great-grandchildren Audric and Everett Cherrey, Asher and Cohen Allen, Eliana and Gabriella Ryan, Makayla Morin, and Eloise Mundie.
Catherine lived her faith and always cared for those in need. Over the years, she enjoyed gardening, involvement in her church and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, travelling, going to the cottage, fishing, playing Bridge, and other card and board games. She especially enjoyed any time that family, immediate or extended, were together.
She is predeceased by her husband, Herbert Audric Allen, and her parents, Rev. George and Mary (nee Merklinger) Herbst, as well as three sisters and a brother in infancy.
Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 78 John St. W. Waterloo on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Joel Kuhl and Rev. Kurt Reinhardt officiating. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
