Obituary of Janet Ella Miller

It is with great sadness we announce the death of an amazing woman Janet Ella Miller (Ruthig) on Saturday May 5, 2018 at Nithview Nursing Home in New Hamburg, Ontario.

Janet was an active member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Janet was also formerly employed at B.F Goodrich, the Harmony Lunch and was the receptionist for Dr’s Edward Coney and Marvin Gretzinger from 1962 – 1996. She was always in the kitchen and managed A&J Catering out of her home with her partner Ann Melnychuck on weekends for many years. She would also be found in the kitchen at the KW Naval Association in Waterloo. On October 20, 2013 this club honoured her with an Annual Roast Beef Dinner.

Janet was the eldest daughter of Reuben and Isabella (Hill) Ruthig. Cherished mother of Lynn and her husband Eddie Jacobs, Terry and his wife Virginia and Scott and his partner Diana Goodwin. Loving Grandma to 14 grandchildren, Shane (Kelley), Tyler (Melanie), Tyson (Julia), Veronica, Johanna (Peter), Elyssia (Kevin), Kerrianne, Therese (Ryan), Deanna (Derek), Julia, Timothy, Ryan and Natalie. Special Great Grandmother of Ryley, Mackenna, Shelby-Lynn, Greta, Fredrick, Maximillian, Wolf, Reuben, Tierra, Xavier and Tillie. Janet is survived by her sister Elsie Haffner, Mim Miller (Douglas), and her brother Robert Ruthig (Gwen) and sister-in-law Patricia Ruthig. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Remembered by long time friend Albert Thiel and his family.

Predeceased by Duane Miller, her brother Karl Ruthig, brother-in-law Ronald Haffner.

Sincere thank you to the staff at Nithview for their care and compassion. They truly treated her as a member of their family.

A Memorial Reception to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home in the Fireside Room, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday May 26, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. Remembrances at 3 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
