Obituary of Derek Patrick Douglas

Derek passed away at the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the age of 86.

He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Shirley (nee Leitch).  Derek was blessed with four children, Stephen (Mary, deceased), Graham (Kathy), Gillian (Chalmers), and Michael (Shelley).  Derek is remembered by Kay Hennessy, mother of his children, also cherished grandfather of seven grandchildren, Ashley, Hailey, Derek, Hilary, Katie, Evan, Brian and five great-grandchildren.  Derek will be remembered by his extended family.

For most of his life, Derek worked at Washerama in Kitchener.  He subsequently, until his retirement, owned and operated Douglas Appliances, also in Kitchener.

Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Memorial Gardens, Breslau.  A memorial service to celebrate Derek’s life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.  A reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.
