Back in the 1970’s, I was asked by my employer, RV Anderson, to attend the Ontario Good Roads Association MIT Inspectors’ Course. That was where I first met Roger who was instrumental in putting the course together, directing it and instructing on it. In the mid 80’s while working for the City of Waterloo engineering department, I was asked if I would become involved in the MIT curriculum committee at OGRA.....and there was Roger, heading up the group.....still! I stayed on that committee, working with Roger until about 2015. In later times on that committee when Roger was less comfortable with driving into Toronto, I became his chauffeur as well. A trip with Roger was always full of anecdotes about his engineering experiences, and he had a lot of them to share. It was the same in the classroom....he could bring life to his subject with these personal anecdotes . I always considered Roger a mentor, and a friend, and our experiences together expanded to include CATT at the University of Waterloo. What a treat it has been, knowing Roger over these many years. His was a life lived to the fullest and shared with so many about him....Denyse, family, grandkids, dogs, work colleagues, students, neighbours....the list goes on....an awesome experience to have known Roger!
