Obituary of Helen Margaret Dietrich

(nee Baessler)

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Helen M. Dietrich at the Freeport Campus of Grand River Hospital on Monday, July 5, 2021, at the age of 94.

Helen was born on the family farm in Wellesley Township near Linwood on May 11, 1927 and was married for 49 years to Jerome Dietrich who predeceased her in 1997.

Helen is survived by her daughter Dianne (John) Duskocy of Brussels, her sons Paul and Carl of Waterloo, and her daughter Donna (John) Rahn of Waterloo. Helen is also survived by her brother John Baessler of Linwood, brother George (Vietta) Baessler of Elmira, and her sister Teresa Day, originally of Elmira.

Predeceased by her husband Jerome V. Dietrich, her infant daughter Rosemary, and her sister Ann Gohl.

Helen was an active member of the C.W.L. at St. Louis RC Church for 67 years. She loved spending time with her children and all of her grandchildren. Helen had five granddaughters, five great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters, and one great-great-granddaughter.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Freeport Hospital for their support and kindness shown to Helen. Also, thank you to the staff of the LHIN and ParaMed for their support and kindness shown to Mom and her family throughout the past years.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen St. E., Waterloo on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
