October 23, 1934 to April 24, 2023

Died gently on Monday, April 24th, 2023 in her eighty-ninth year, after a full life, graciously and resiliently lived.  Beloved granddaughter of the late Shirley (‘Gaga’), devoted daughter of the late Shirley and George Harman, and dear sister of the late Donald Harman.  Bev was also predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Thom.  Proud and devoted mother of Heather Parkhill and her husband Mike, and Stephen Thom and his wife Jill (nee Tait), Bev was a beloved and doting Nana to Scott and David (Danielle Winter) Parkhill, Matthew (Ali Iwai), Katie, Emma and Victoria Thom, and an Honorary Auntie to John Lougheed, among others. She also had several ‘grand dogs’!  Born in Winnipeg, Bev spent her teen and early married years in Toronto, where she nurtured her genius for friendship.  For more than fifty years, the City of Waterloo has been home to Bev, where she raised her two teens, welcomed in-laws and six grandchildren, cared for her Mom, and widened her circle of close friends, including Gwen Bird, Marion and Grahame Farquhar, and Janice Bryson, among many others who have loved and supported Bev over the years.  Bev enjoyed her membership at Holy Saviour Anglican Church, with the Gyrettes, Club 84 (in support of Mary’s Place), and at Westmount Golf and Country Club, as well as a chair around many a bridge table! She savoured several years of retirement, including time spent in Halifax, Oakville and Muskoka with family and friends.  Bev’s family wishes to express their appreciation to Drs. Yew and Trussler, the staff at Freeport Hospice, Nurses Bernadette, Gursharan, and Martha, as well as PSW Mia, for their compassionate care of Mom in her home, as well as many other caring health professionals, particularly in recent months.  Bev’s funeral will be held in the Chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S.  in Waterloo on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 11 a.m., with a Reception to follow in the Fireside Room of the Funeral Home.  The Service will be live-streamed, with a link found at the top of Bev’s obituary on the website of the funeral home.   Private Interment at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo.  In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family, and memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Grand River Hospital – Freeport Hospice, or a charity of choice, can be arranged at www.erbgood.com, or by calling 519-745-8445.
