It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nellie Margaret Hiltz on Thursday January 25th at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, following a sudden heart attack.
Beloved wife of 63 years to the late Eric Hiltz (2020) and loving mother of Cindy Harrington (Kevin) and Dan Hiltz (Janet). Grandmother of Melissa (Mike), David (Sarah), Jennifer and Alana. Great Grandmother of Lilian, Avery, Cicely, Jackson and Blake. Sister of Adriana ‘Audrey’ Slocum and John Hoogerwerf. Predeceased by her parents Andries and Philomena Hoogerwerf, brother Johannes ‘Joe’ Hoogerwerf and sister Magdalena ‘Babe’ Rayfuse.
Nellie had a caring and beautiful spirit that touched everyone that had the pleasure to have known her. She had a passion for crafting (clothing, jewelry and all kinds of decor) which she loved to share with her family and many friends. Nellie treasured her family and friends and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. She had a strong faith and was a member of Calvary United Church in St. Jacobs.
Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 6 - 8 p.m. and Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 10 – 10:45 a.m. The Funeral Service will follow the visitation in the chapel of the funeral home at 11 a.m., with Rev. Drew Maxwell officiating. A reception will be held in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room. A private family interment will be held in the spring at Calvary United Cemetery, St. Jacobs.
