I was very fortunate to have Doug as my mentor back in 1990 when I became his colleague in the coop department at Monarch Park Collegiate. He made my introduction to the coop program interesting and enjoyable and not as scary as I feared it might be. And as a result I spent 22 of the happiest years in the coop program continuing his passion for helping and guiding students. He was firm as a teacher but always had a twinkle in his eye. His love for his wife Margaret and his two beloved girls was so apparent. And Doug had the most wonderful voice, whether speaking or singing. His memory is a blessing.

Ingrid and I were very sorry to hear of Doug's passing recently. He will be sadly missed. We knew Doug and Margaret from our years at First United Church in Waterloo. Doug and I sang in the bass section of the choir, and had many great times together. He will be remembered as a great singer and a terrific soloist.
may you rest in peace, Doug.

Richard Watson, Emeritus Professor of English, University of Durham, UK posted a condolence

Doug Leask was a quiet, reserved, and lovable man, who became the friend of many when he lived in Durham, United Kingdom, with his wife Margaret and his daughters, Anne and Ellen. They came to Durham to support Margaret while she did a PhD at the University here. Doug was much loved by all who knew him. He and Margaret and the children became valued members of Old Elvet Methodist Church in the City of Durham, and they are remembered with admiration and affection by all those members of the congregation who came to know them. Doug was never one to push himself forward, but Sunday by Sunday he was always there, reverently and calmly worshiping with his family. He had had a distinguished career, and was highly qualified, but his modesty prevented him from talking about it. May he rest in peace upon another shore and in a greater light..
