Obituary of Erik Marinus Rolf Van Esch

Passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the age of 33.

Erik will be lovingly remembered by his mother Catherine Van Esch (nee Haas), father John Van Esch, brothers Alexander Van Esch (Kristen) and Adam Van Esch, and his grandparents Marinus and Martina Van Esch. Also special in his life Angie Chappus, and his nieces and nephews Jules, Cayden, Josh, Avery, and Athena.

He was predeceased by his beloved grandparents Rose and Ralph Haas, and his precious cat Eddie.

Erik’s acts of kindness towards others often took precedence over his own needs. He was a sensitive and caring soul. A lover and maker of art, music, and hot sauce. Erik also loved animals, especially his furry friends Spencer, Molly, Eddie, and Yoshi. Erik enjoyed nature and the great outdoors, especially fishing. He was also a true renaissance man who appreciated old movies and cigars. Erik will be deeply missed, and we are grateful that he is finally at peace.

Cremation has taken place, and a Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Erik’s life will be celebrated in the funeral home’s chapel at 12:00 p.m., with a livestream and recording of the service available here. A reception will follow in the Fireside Reception Room. Private interment at Parkview Cemetery.
