Mum, you were an outstanding mother-in-law but even more an exceptional friend. Your unwavering support helped me through some of my toughest moments, especially when my mother and sister passed away. You were my anchor in stormy seas, my compass when I felt lost. You believed in me even when I doubted myself. I can never thank you enough for all the love you gave me long after I was no longer officially a daughter in law.
Our relationship wasn’t just about the big moments, (although we had plenty of those) – the birthdays, the anniversaries, the weddings, all the travel we did together. It was the small, everyday moments that I treasure and remember the most. The sound of your laughter as you and Dad danced while doing the dishes. The comfortable silences we shared, just being in each other’s presence. I’ll miss our conversations, discussing everything from our deepest fears to our wildest dreams. The endless cups of tea shared and your famous, made special just for Allan and I rice pudding WITHOUT raisins!
My heart is heavy with grief, but also overflowing with gratitude for the fifty years we had. Thank you, mom, for your endless love, your unwavering support, your gentle guidance. You will live on in my heart forever.
Love, Lea
