I have SO many fond memories of Eric, as we often crossed paths in various places. Seeing the lovely photo of Eric helps to confirm that he is now smiling and in a much better. Eric always had a magical ability to brightened a room with he radiant smile and heart-warming laugh. His laughter always revealing his 'sagely' spirit and old-soul wisdom. I first met Eric with all his many friends at Vic's T'ai Chi classes. It wasn't hard to find the goodness that filled Eric's heart. As mentioned, he loved to head off on Saturdays to the St. Jacob's market. One day after T'ai Chi it was pouring rain, I asked Eric if he wanted a ride home, as I was heading to my parents house. "Sure" he said. I asked what street he lived on. With a chuckle Eric said, "oh, it's a little street, you won't know it". When he said 'Washington', my reply was "your joking right!". Knowing that Eric resided on the same small street where I grew up made him now feel like family. We continued to cross paths over the years until Eric moved to St. Jacobs. Then one day, when I visited my parents for the first time at there new home, I was shocked to see Eric's name as I walked down the halls at Chartwell. I felt very blessed to have enjoyed exchanges with Eric when he was still able to have meals in the dining room, and could still say a few words. His eyes sparkled as he smiled and he did 'brightened' up the room. Thanks to Toure, Nathan and Jill for regularly giving me updates on Eric's day. He was truly loved and cared for by all those he touched in these past 2 years. Wendy, sadly, I never got a chance to cross paths with you. My heart goes out to you and the family as you grieve the loss of a very fine, gentle man. Know that many hearts join you in your sadness and healing. Hugs, Diann (Sehl)
