Alice left Winston Park Long Term Care peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on October 24, 2024 at the age of 93.  She was the firstborn to Julius and Elsie (nee Schumann) Besler in North Battleford, Saskatchewan on Dec. 25, 1930.  Predeceased by James Stanley Huras, her loving husband of 65 years, sister Margaret (Gary) McLellan and granddaughter in infancy.  Dear mother of Brenda Hagedorn (Stephen) of Waterloo, Thomas Huras (Lorraine) of Toronto and Jonathan (Laura) of Kitchener.  Dear Nanny to David (Shannon), Michael (Alison), Sarah Yim (Jonathan), Peter, Alexander (Iris), Abigail, Daniel and Gregory (Rachel).  Great Nanny to Zachary, Penelope, Walter and Hannah.  Alice will also be missed by her siblings Heidi Freure (Harold) and Walter Besler (Rose).

She was a dental assistant before she became a devoted wife and mother.  Alice assumed the role of a servant through all her endeavours.  She was an active member at Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church, also at the Synodical level and at the Red Bay Community Church serving in various leadership roles.  She volunteered many hours at Pinehaven Nursing Home on Lexington Road, Waterloo serving on the auxiliary for over 40 years.

She enjoyed cooking, was a bridge player in 4 different bridge clubs, an avid reader with a thirst for knowledge, loved to entertain family and friends at home and the cottage and was a talented seamstress producing clothes for herself and her family and the sails for their first sailboat built by Jim.  She cherished the family times at their Red Bay cottage.

The family recognizes the compassionate care Alice received from the staff at Winston Park during her short stay with them.  Friends are invited to share their memories of her life with her family during visitation on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church 137 Queen Street South, Kitchener.  Service 11:00 a.m. followed by light refreshments downstairs.  Interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau.   Condolences and donations to Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Red Bay Community Church may be arranged through the Erb & Good Funeral Home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
