Passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the age of 89. Eileen Mumby (née Salt) was born on March 8, 1935, in Heanor, Derbyshire, England, to John Salt and Jessie Salt (nee Bromfield).
Eileen married Dennis Mumby, the love of her life, with whom she shared many cherished years until his passing on August 30, 2021. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, shenanigans, and treasured memories.
She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Anthea, and son, Steven; her cherished son- and daughters-in-law, Douglas, Sara, and Sheryl; and her devoted grandchildren, Rhiannan, Daniel (and his spouse Monica), Elliott, and Dalton.
Eileen was predeceased by her beloved son, David, on January 27, 2024.
Eileen was known for her zest for life and her incredible gift for storytelling, captivating all who listened. Her quest for the world's best gin and tonic became a signature adventure. Eileen and Dennis loved to travel and had many adventures throughout the world in their 67 years together. Eileen had many cherished pets through the years and was kept company in her last few years by her and Dennis's beloved spaniel Cerri Ann. Above all else, she will be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family.
A funeral service will be held at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:30 a.m., followed by a burial at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. A livestream and recording of the service will be available on Eileen’s tribute page here.
