Obituary of Ryan Yoshy
Ryan Yoshy passed away peacefully in hospice on Saturday, January 11, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and lung disease. By his side was his devoted wife of 42 years, Judy Yoshy, who provided unwavering care and love throughout his journey.
He is survived by his sisters, Becky and Cathy Yoshy, and his brothers-in-law, Bob Gibson and David Leassa. Ryan is also survived by his four loving children: Mariko, Zak, Kody, and Kiyoko Yoshy. He leaves behind his beloved in-laws, Matthew Bolen, Mairead Fitzpatrick, Simmone Marchesseau and Tim Belanger. Ryan was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren: Emiko Bolen-Yoshy, Takao and Yoshi Bolen, Aoki and Keeva Yoshy, Hugh, Harrison, Coco, and Gigi Yoshy, as well as Harlow and Huxley Belanger, who all brought immense joy to his life.
Ryan had a larger-than-life personality that left a mark on everyone he met. His contagious laugh could light up a room, and his generosity knew no bounds. A true animal lover, Ryan had a deep connection with his beloved pets, who brought him great comfort and happiness over the years.
In his final moments, Ryan reflected on a life filled with adventure and accomplishment. He rode with cowboys and their rivals, took to the skies as a bush pilot flying over the rugged western landscapes, always ready to strike a pose for the cameras, and traversed the famed Alaskan highways from mile zero. Later, he attained a law degree and rounded out his remarkable career as a business owner and entrepreneur.
Ryan’s unwavering spirit, determination, and zest for life will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His enduring love for salted mashed potatoes and double-doubles fueled his spirit until the very end.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday January 24 at Conestoga Golf Course from 3:00-6:00 pm. Ryan’s children will speak in his memory at 4:30, followed by a short musical tribute by one of his grandchildren. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth would be appreciated by the family. Donations can be made at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St S, Waterloo, or online at www.erbgood.com
